Road

Barcaldine is at the crossroads of the Matilda and Capricorn Highways and is easily accessed by road from all directions. All of the highways leading to Barcaldine are fully sealed, double lane bitumen. Barcaldine is approximately 1215kms north of Brisbane, 580kms west of Rockhampton and 755kms east of Mt Isa.

Rail

Queensland Rail operates twice weekly trips from Brisbane to Barcaldine aboard the Spirit of the Outback passenger train. Enjoy the relaxing and peaceful tranquility of train travel. Provision can be made to transport your car onboard the train. Queensland Rail Reservations: 13 22 32

Coach Travel

Greyhound coach service operates daily to and from Brisbane. Travel in air-conditioned coaches with on board movies and meal breaks at towns along the way. Coaches leave Brisbane in the evening and arrive the following morning.

Air Travel

Qantas Link flies regularly into Barcaldine from Brisbane. Travel time is approximately 2 hours. Qantas Link also provides  flights from Brisbane into Longreach and car hire can be obtained from Budget Car Hire.
